Compendium of Curiosities
Challenge # 33
I also can't believe that we are already on the second-to-last technique in the fortnightly challenges working our way through Tim's
Linda and her talented Curiosity crew
have been playing with
 Tim’s Altered Surfaces technique
(Using page 45 of Tim's book )
My eldest son is working and living in Australia for two years, he has been out there 8 months already...So proud of him...and miss him sooooo much....but he is having an amazing time making new friends and having amazing experiences (which makes it a little easier for me!!).....and I'm sooooo excited because ...at the moment...we are making plans to visit him on the other side of the world.
So I'm putting together some pressies for him, and I made this card (incorporating Tim's altered surfaces technique)with him in mind...
 Tim Holtz Alpha Parts
were used for the Altered Surfaces technique.
I've incorporated lots of TH idea-ology embellies (LOVE Tims embellishments!!) - (word band, arrow, wing, typewriter charm, monocle, hinge clip, philosophy tag, metal and file tab.)
Tim Holtz papers
 TH stamps (The Boys)
I've highlighted Australia on the map using the 'Monocle'
I've chosen a 'A' from the 'Typewriter letter charms', My sons' Aaron's initial!
The alpha parts I opted for to use the Altered surfaces technique are.. an 'Arrow' and 'ADVENTURE' which is just the perfect sentiment...for all the exciting experiences he will be havingin Oz!
I've also used Tims faded layers technique (p.58 of his book) to create my backgrounds using 'bubble' and 'Harlequin' stencils and alcohol inks.

If you want to see what this challenge is all about....Hop over to Linda's Blog...
for the
Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #33

who along with her crew...have some gorgeous Altered Surfaces inspiration!
You will also need a copy of Tim's
Compendium of Curiosities Volume III book

....and for this challenge.
The wonderful Inspiration Emporium,
Tim and Mario have very generously donated more fabulous prizes!

Hope you all have a lovely week!
Thanks for Peeking!

The Summer of Color 5: Week six

WOW!!, we've arrived at the last week of
and again....what an amazing 6 weeks it has been!
A Humongous Thank you  to Kristin for being a fabulous hostess and encouraging us all to play along with different mixes of colours combos... especially the ones out of our comfort zones!
This week colour combo is...
1 Orange + 1 Orange + 1 Blue
...now orange is a colour I rarely choose... so I checked my crafty stash and found 2 shades of orange felt!
...and inspired by the fox hunting debate on the News ...I created a felt fox brooch and added the blue in the form of a crochet doily flower.
Sadly, like all good things...they have to come to an end:(
My Summer of Colour now complete, it has been FUN. I've enjoyed creating a variety of different things for this challenge...
Week 1 Knitted Mermaid
Week 2 Photography
Week 3 Altered fabric book cover
Week 4 Inky, painty, stencil and stamped journal page.
Week 5 Embroidery Hoop Art
Week 6 Felt Brooch
I've also enjoyed visiting other participants and seeing the gorgeous variety of colourful entries! :)
Thanks for everyone who have visited and commented on my SOC posts... I'm still playing catch up here!!..so if I haven't commented on your creations...I'll be around to see you soon!
Thanks for peeking!
